Come and learn about the diversity of fishes in the York River. From flatfish to seahorses, you will get a chance to explore the world of fish during this lab. Andre Buchheister, a PhD student in the VIMS fisheries department, will introduce the many species that call the York River home. Participants will be able to view tanks with many of the York River species; examine fish from the VIMS fish collection, study fish form and characteristics, and practice Gyotaku--the art of fish printing. Microscopes will provide a close-up view of the world of fish.
