The Art & Art History's first show of the new academic year, "No Man's Land: A Collection of Works by Contemporary Female Artists," September 7 - October 3, 2017.

A reception will take place on September 14, from 4 to 6 pm.

Brenda Marie Osbey is a poet, essayist and librettist working in English and French. She will read from her own works, including a poem commissioned for celebration of the 50th anniversary of African Americans in residence at William & Mary.

Brave Enough to be First serves to honor the legacy of the three women who were the first African Americans in residence at William & Mary, to shed light on just how far we have come, and to inspire continued diversity and inclusion.

Journey to the Deep: Exploring the Biology of Animals that Live in Extreme Environments 

Marine scientist Dr. Dijanna Figueroa will present a screening of the James Cameron documentary movie ?Aliens of the Deep."

The 50th Commemoration Planning Committee is honored to present a Brown Bag talk by Dr. Trudier Harris, Sara and Jess Cloud Distinguished Lecturer. Dr. Harris was the first African American faculty to be tenured at William & Mary.

VIMS will host a panel discussion with invited guests, local experts, and former VIMS graduate students on race and ethnicity in higher education.

Marine scientist Dr. Dijanna Figueroa will present the first in the VIMS Friday Seminar Series on engaging people of color to become in STEM-connected careers.
