Antarctic Edge: 70° South

VIMS Professor Deborah Steinberg introduces Antarctic Edge: 70° South, a film that bridges art and science to tell the behind-the-scenes story of long-term ecological research at Palmer Station on the West Antarctic Peninsula. Funded in part by the National Science Foundation, the 72-minute film features scientists from VIMS, Rutgers, and other leading ocean institutes as they pursue marine research in one of Earth's fasting changing regions. Joining Steinberg for a quick post-screening Q&A are Director Dena Seidel of the Rutgers Center for Digital Filmmaking and Rutgers scientist Oscar Schofield. Moviegoers are encouraged to mingle with these three, plus other polar researchers at VIMS during an informal post-screening reception.

The lecture is the September installment of the 2015 After Hours series, which helps mark VIMS' 75th anniversary with presentations following the "Then, Now, and Next" theme of our year-long celebration.

Reservations to this free public lecture series are required due to limited space.
