Join us for a virtual author talk with Kate Reed Petty '06, author of "True Story," a New York Times Editor’s Choice, and a new middle-grade graphic novel, "The Leak." Kate will discuss her work and answer questions from the audience.

The reading will be moderated by Carrie Cooper, dean of university libraries. After the reading, time will be available for questions and discussion.

About the author:

Kate Reed Petty lives in Baltimore. Her fiction and essays have been published by ZZYZZYVA (Spring 2021), Electric Literature, American Short Fiction, Blackbird, Nat. Brut, the Los Angeles Review of Books blog, and Ambit. Her debut novel, "True Story," was published by Viking in summer 2020. Her work has been supported by a Rubys Grant from the Robert W. Deutsch Foundation, a Tennessee Williams Scholarship to the Sewanee Writers’ Conference, and a creative residency at Bloedel Reserve; in 2018 she was a writer-in-residence at The Mount (Edith Wharton’s home in Massachusetts).

In addition to fiction, Kate’s short films have appeared on Narrative magazine and at the 2019 Maryland Film Festival. Her middle-grade graphic novel, "The Leak," illustrated by Andrea Bell, was released by First Second Books in March 2021.
