The Reves Center sponsors a rare opportunity to experience on campus a traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony and lecture by visiting scholars from Gakushuin Women's College in Japan.

At 1pm, Professor Akira Amagasaki will deliver a lecture, Visible and invisible: Aesthetics in Japanese Art in Room 1056 in the School of Education.

After a short break, the guests will move to the Dogwood Room for a traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony hosted by Tea Master Soju Nakazawa beginning at 2:45pm.

Born in 1970, in Tokyo, Nakazawa grew up on Japanese traditional cultures, especially on the tea culture, and has shown a keen interest in it since his childhood, under the strong influences of his grandmother and mother who were tea masters, as well as of his relatives, such as Gonjuro Kawarazaki III (a famous Kabuki star) and Tokuho Azuma (a grand master of Japanese classical dance).

This unique event is free and open to the public.
