[PAST EVENT] Environmental Advocacy: A Civic Voice Workshop
Access & Features
- Free food
- Registration/RSVP
Learn about environmental issues affecting the Peninsula and build advocacy skills in this dynamic workshop facilitated by advocacy professionals from the National Parks Conservation Association. A large focus of this workshop will be understanding the current proposed changes to the Clean Water Act and how these changes would negatively affect the environment and parks. We will practice elevator pitches and learn how to submit effective public comments to be part of the legislative process. The workshop also provides an opportunity to explore different career paths that may not at first appear to be related to your field of study, networking with professionals in policy advocacy and environmental science.
NPCA has four core values that drive their work: commitment, inclusion, integrity, and respect. For far too long, marginalized communities have been excluded from discussions and legislation surrounding environmental advocacy and justice. We value diverse experiences and backgrounds, and we seek to make this workshop inclusive for all members of the William & Mary community. Refer any questions to Brian Wuertz. [[bswuertz]]
