The Center for Comparative Legal Studies and Post-Conflict Peacebuilding (CCL/PCP) welcomes Professor Bernard Freamon to the Law School on March 18 for a presentation on the issue of slavery in Islamic legal history. Professor Freamon is a Professor of Law Emeritus at Seton Hall Law School and Adjunct Professor of Law at New York University School of Law. He has written a number of books and articles on issues in comparative law, and his newly published book Possessed by the Right Hand: The Problem of Slavery in Islamic Law and Muslim Cultures (2019) is the first comprehensive legal history of slavery in Islam ever offered to readers. The talk will take place from 12:50 to 2:00pm in Room 133, and lunch will be provided.
