William & Mary (W&M) invites the Williamsburg and Hampton Roads community to gather and join in our celebration of local heroes and history makers revealed in "Hidden Figures" the book, and the Academy Award Best Film nominee.

We are hosting Dr. Christine Darden, a mathematician, aeronautical engineer, and former NASA scientist featured in the book "Hidden Figures." Becoming the first African-American woman to be promoted into senior executive service at NASA?s Langley Research Center is amongst her many distinctions. The event also will include historic photos and videos of the NASA?s human computers provided and discussed by a NASA?s panel of scientists, including former W&M alum Michelle Ferebee. These dialogues set the stage to enjoy the inspirational Hidden Figures film as a community.

This momentous event available to W&M, Williamsburg, and Hampton Roads community is a three component event, consisting of a luncheon, viewing of the movie, and a reception. The event is free.

Luncheon: The luncheon will be held in Trinkle Hall at W&M from 12:30 p.m. - 2 p.m. Attendants will watch short videos featuring the ?hidden figures? and have dialogue with NASA?s panelist and Dr. Darden. RSVP is required for this event; please do so at http://forms.wm.edu/31050 by March 28, 2017 or until full.

Viewing of the film: Commonwealth Auditorium (Sadler Center) at William & Mary at 5:30 p.m., starting with Dr. Darden introducing the film.

A reception and Q&A: immediately after the film in the Cohen Career Center; including NASA?s panel and Dr. Darden

All are welcome!

Please join us whether this is your first, second, or third viewing of Hidden Figures. Live in the moment with a history maker. For more information contact: Shant? D Hinton at [[sdhinton]]
