The Timothy J. Sullivan Scholarship is named in honor of William & Mary?s 25th president, who served from 1992 to 2005, and is made possible through the generosity of Christopher Fildes, a financial journalist in London and a long-time benefactor of the College. Mr. Fildes established the scholarship in collaboration with the Drapers? Company, a guild founded over 600 years ago that today administers charitable trusts on behalf of schools and non-profit institutions. In 2003, President Sullivan was honored with the Freedom of the Drapers? Company, and he was installed as a member of the Livery in 2003. In response to the establishment of this scholarship, Dr. Sullivan has donated $3,000 to provide more assistance to the recipient each year.

Deadline to apply for the Sullivan Scholarship for Fall 2015 study abroad in the U.K. Contact the Global Education Office at the Reves Center for International Studies for more information.

The Sullivan scholarship carries an award of 3,000 GBP plus $3,000, to be used toward any field of study at one of the UK institutions listed below. Preference will be given to candidates who enroll in a full year of study in the UK; the scholarship may not be used toward summer study abroad. The scholarship recipient will be selected based on merit and financial need.

During the scholarship recipient?s stay in the UK, s/he will be expected to travel to London to meet with Mr. Fildes and members of the Drapers? Company. In addition, the recipient will need to provide informal quarterly updates on his/her studies and prepare a written report at the end of his/her period of study.
