[PAST EVENT] Oyster Tour
Access & Features
- Open to the public
As part of our month-long Oystober celebration, we invite you to attend a special Oyster Tour at VIMS! During this 1.5 hour tour, you’ll learn about the cutting-edge research taking place at VIMS that helps us understand the biology and ecology of the oysters we love and supports the growing shellfish aquaculture industry. We will visit the VIMS Oyster Hatchery, where Dr. Jessica Small will show you how VIMS research has helped produce the perfect dinner-table oyster. We will also visit the Shellfish Pathology Lab, where Dr. Ryan Carnegie will describe how his team works to understand oyster diseases and keep the aquaculture industry safe and thriving.
Registration for this event has been reopened! Limited spots available. REGISTER NOW!
Tours are designed for an adult audience. At this time, masks are required for all individuals in indoor spaces at VIMS. The VIMS campus is currently closed to individuals under the age of 13.
