Healthy Eating Series
Welcome to the Spring 2017 Healthy Eating Series! Each session is designed so you can attend one, a combination of them, or all four. A certificate of completion will be presented to those attending all four programs.
February 8 - Healthy Eating 101
Magazine articles, ads, differing diet books and programs lead to confusing and conflicting messages about what constitutes healthy eating. In this session, you will get to learn from the Campus Dietitian, Julie Nance, what are and are not healthy food choices. Julie will present the basics of healthy eating by highlighting what is new and what the science tells us about good nutrition.
February 22 - Healthy Eating 102
In this session, you will learn how to put healthy choices into practice by using an online resource, called MyPlate, published by the USDA. Julie Nance, the Campus Dietitian, will walk you through the MyPlate and how to use it when eating at home and when eating out. Please join us, even if you did not attend Healthy Eating 101.
March 15 - Dietary Diversity
Planning meals for someone with medical or religious dietary restrictions can be confusing or overwhelming. Join us and Julie Nance, Campus Dietitian, to learn the specific dietary adjustments for certain religions and medical conditions and what to think about when you are planning meals.
April 12 - Healthy Vacation
“Healthy” and “Vacation” are two words that can be used in the same sentence! If you’re interested in learning how to follow your healthy nutrition plan during a vacation, this is the class for you. Healthy Eating 101 and 102 can help you get ready for summer but this class can help you stay on the healthy path through any vacation!
