Florence

Florence is the capital city of Tuscany and is known for its natural beauty, abundance of art and architecture, and for being the home of Dante and Michelangelo. Considered the birth place of the Renaissance, Florence boasts a rich history and allows visitors access to numerous art galleries, cathedrals, and palaces. It is also one of the best preserved Renaissance centers of art and architecture in the world, and the historic center of Florence was named a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1982. The city is also home to wonderful markets, featuring Italian leather, and delicious Italian cuisine.

Program Description:

Students in the Florence program study under the direction and instruction of William & Mary and local faculty in this one-month intensive Italian program. All courses are held at LinguaViva Language Institute, which is minutes away from the historic center of Florence. Students will experience the city as locals by participating in homestays during this program. Homestays host students in double rooms and provide breakfast and dinner.

Throughout the program students will have the opportunity to explore local sites in Florence as well as other Italian cities. In the past, excursions have included Venice, Cinque Terre, and Chianti country. All excursions include transportation, lodging on overnight excursions, and some meals.
