Professor Mel Marquis Ph.D, LL.M, J.D. of the European University Institute will present a lecture titled "Recent Developments in Southeast Asian Antitrust." Free and all are welcome. Sponsored by the Center for Legal Studies and Post-Conflict Peacebuilding.
Biography
Since 2011, Mel Marquis has been a part-time Professor of Law at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy. This spring, he is a Visiting Professor at Doshisha University in Kyoto. Since 2012, he has also been teaching law at LUMSA Free University of Rome. From 2008 to 2014, he also taught law at the University of Verona.
He has also had a few other short-term posts: for academic year 2017, he was a Senior Fellow at the University of Melbourne Law School; for academic year 2016, he was a Visiting Professor at Central University of Finance and Economics in Beijing; and in academic year 2015, he was a Visiting Professor at Doshisha University and also at Renmin University of China in Beijing.
Professor Marquis has provided technical assistance and training to several competition authorities and has lectured at various universities in Australia, China, Europe, Japan and the United States. Before leaving private practice in 2004, he worked as a lawyer for a short time in the United States and for several years in Belgium.
He has published one book as sole author; nine edited books; and numerous articles and book chapters. His home town is Seattle. (He noted he's still depressed because his football team failed to make it to the playoffs this year!)
