Abstract:

In this presentation, we propose a nexus between water and electrical power that
satisfies the water and power demands, ensures a sufficient quality of water, and minimizes the total cost. We consider multiple power sources such as thermal, hydro, wind, and solar as well as water supplied via a multiple-reservoir system. Then the water and power systems are modeled and formulated into an optimization problem. Multi-objective optimization is employed to solve the optimization problem bearing in mind the two separate speeds of water and power. Such systems can make efficient use of resources to meet the increasing demand from water and power consumers.
