In 1854, Mare Island became the site of the first naval base on the West Coast. For 142 years, the Mare Island Naval Shipyard played an integral and fascinating role in shaping U.S. history. Join us at Coal Shed Brewery for lunch followed by a 90-minute walking tour of Mare Island, led by Kent Fortner ’92, founder of Mare Island Brewing Co. and Road 31 Wine Co. and president of Mare Island Historic Park Foundation. After the tour, we will head back to the brewery for beer tastings and enjoy cornhole on the waterfront! Your ticket includes lunch, tour and tastings, and the event is sponsored by the Association of 1775 and Young Guarde.
