Dr. Carolyn Brinkworth will be visiting from the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) based in Boulder, CO.
Dr. Brinkworth is the Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer (CDO) for NCAR-- where she coordinates various diversity, equity & inclusion activities, supports the diversification of NCAR, and partners with external organizations across the geosciences to do the same in our field.  She holds a Ph.D. in Astrophysics from the University of Southampton, and an MA in Education from Claremont Graduate University. Her MA research focused on LGBTQIA individuals in higher education, and how to improve campus climates for underrepresented students, particularly in Science, Engineering, Technology and Math (STEM). She'll be giving a departmental seminar on Wednesday, April 17th at 4 pm in McGl 219-- focusing on how we can build and maintain welcoming and inclusive environments across earth sciences.
