Ambassador Pickering will discuss American negotiation with Iran. Can American civil society impact one of the most complex state interactions of the 21st century? What are the specific strategies American actors can use to "unclench Iran's fists"? Is there a constructive future for U.S.-Iran relations?

Ambassador Pickering will bring his extraordinary diplomatic experience to one of the most perplexing issues of American policy in the modern age. He has served as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Russia, Israel, and elsewhere, as the U.S. Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs, and as the chair of the recent investigation panel on the September, 2012 attack in Benghazi, Libya.

The talk is free and open to the public.
