Please join the Sociology Department for their tenth annual Schmidt Lecture on Technology and Society. This year?s Schmidt speaker is Marya Doerfel, speaking on ?Social Networks, Disrupted: How Organizations and Communities Achieve Resilience in Volatile Conditions.? Wednesday, April 5th, 4:00pm in ISC1127. Marya Doerfel (PhD, University of Buffalo, SUNY) is an associate professor in the School of Communication and Information at Rutgers University. She examines how interorganizational relationships impact and are impacted by changes in organizations? environments and their relational contexts. Professor Doerfel has conducted communication and network assessments inside organizations and in areas in which environmental conditions disrupt interorganizational alliances. Her research has been supported by grants from the U.S. Department of Defense, the National Science Foundation, and the United States Agency for International Development. She will present highlights from her research in the U.S., Croatia, and Afghanistan.
