Reza Ovissi?s research focuses on food and seafood safety, quality and value-added products by applying engineering and novel technologies. He is working on developing bio-products from seafood by-products and underutilized species; improving food and seafood quality and safety by developing novel sanitizers; rapid detection techniques for foodborne pathogens and chemical residues; and investigating the aquaponics food safety risks. He is also working on understanding the pre- and postharvest microbiome changes in seafood for reducing the food spoilage and food loss.  Presented by Mahmoudreza Ovissipour, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Seafood AREC/Department of Food Science and Technology, Hampton Roads, VA.
