Climate Change: It Takes Everyone will explore the issue of climate change and its future implications for Virginia and the nation as a whole. Although calls for stronger environmental policy often come from affected citizens and nonprofit organizations, this global phenomenon affects many aspects not normally considered, such as our economic prosperity, the strength and stability of our national security, and our future energy reliance. Climate change is certainly an interdisciplinary crisis that warrants interdisciplinary mitigation efforts. The Symposium seeks to incorporate voices from all sectors necessary to have a realistic and comprehensive discussion regarding the nation’s path of preparedness.

Climate Change: It Takes Everyone will bring together Alice Hill, former Special Assistant to president Obama and senior Director for Resilience Policy at the national Security Council and current senior fellow for climate change policy at the Council on Foreign Relations, Noelle Coates, Senior Counsel at American Electric Power, along with a host of governmental, academic, industry, and military leaders to discuss each sector’s role in addressing this pressing issue.
