Lecture: "Unconventional Responses to Unique Catastrophes: Tailoring the Law to Meet the Challenges"
Mr. Feinberg is best known for serving as the Special Master of the Federal September 11th Victim Compensation Fund of 2001, as the Fund Administrator for the Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund following the tragic shootings at Virginia Tech, and as the government-appointed administrator of the BP Deepwater Horizon Disaster Victim Compensation Fund. He has also been involved in compensation funds related to General Motors (GM Ignition Claims Resolution Facility) and the Boston Marathon bombing (The One Fund, Boston).
He is founder and managing partner of Feinberg Rozen, LLP.
In 2011, the Law School faculty honored him with the Marshall-Wythe Medallion, which recognizes members of the legal community who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and accomplishment.
The Richard A. Williamson Fellows are supported by an endowment made possible by gifts from the family, former students, and friends of the late Professor Richard A. Williamson. The fellowship brings to campus "lawyer's lawyers," who fit the mold of Professor Richardson -- men and women who possess extraordinary legal acumen and dedication to the profession of law.
Professor Williamson died in 2007. He joined the Marshall-Wythe faculty in 1970, became a full professor in 1975, and Chancellor Professor in 1986. He also served as the university's coordinator of legal affairs for ten years. Shortly before his death, the Board of Visitors conferred upon him the title of Chancellor Professor of Law, Emeritus, in recognition of his extraordinary contributions during his 37 years of service to William & Mary.
