The Intersection of Art, Community, and Learning: Supporting the Transition and Well-being of Veterans and Service Members

Led by Sam Pressler, W&M '15

2015 Echoing Green Global Fellow | Founder of the Armed Services Arts Partnership and W&M Center for Veterans Engagement

Since 9/11, the military has been engaged in the longest period of sustained conflict in U.S. history, yet just 0.5% of American adults have served on active duty at any given time. The Puller Veterans Benefits Clinic, Starbucks and the Armed Services Arts Partnership are collaborating to host a writing group to bring together civilians and veterans from the Hampton Roads community. Through these sessions, participants will respond to prompts, share stories and exchange feedback over a cup of coffee. The Community Writing Group is open to all writers and those looking to connect with their neighbors.
