Neely Bruce is professor of music and American studies at Wesleyan University. He has a long-standing commitment to studying and performing the music of the United States in the eighteenth century, and its musical descendant, The Sacred Harp. In Bruce's view, this music is both politically loaded and compositionally excellent. Lifelong immersion in this tradition has resulted in his secular oratorio "The Bill of Rights: Ten Amendments in Eight Motets."
