Join the Lemon Project on February 1 at 5 pm in Tidewater A of the Sadler Center for our first Porch Talk of the semester, "Student Activism: How to Support Sustained Action." This Porch Talk features Clemson University student activist Khayla Williams. She will be discussing how to keep the momentum going after the protest ends. Catered dinner provided.
Khayla Williams is a senior computer science major at Clemson University from humble beginnings in Brunson, SC. Since her time at Clemson began, she has remained dedicated to the Emerging Scholars Program and has become a famed Connections Mentor. Khayla is a recognized social activist on Clemson's campus; as she is a recipient of the Alan Schaffer Scholarship Award for Excellence in the field of Pan-African Studies as well as the W.E.B DuBois Honor Society Champion of Change Award for her organization of and involvement in the Sikes Sit-In of April 2016. She has also been nominated for the 2018 James E. Bostic, Jr. Diversity and Inclusive Excellence Award. Just this past October, Khayla spoke at a forum on slavery at the University of Virginia following the Charlottesville riots. She continues her work as a student activist through mentorship, organizations such as A.Bevy Collegiate Group and cross-collegiate outreach.
