Plastic pollution

The fifth Shenandoah Science Café will be held tonight. Dr. Kirk Havens from the Virginia Institute of Marine Science, William & Mary, will present “Plastic Pollution in the Oceans.” As we add more and more plastic to the environment, much finds its way into the oceans. Photos of square miles of plastic debris and dead, plastic-filled marine organisms are ever-more common. Dr. Havens will update us on this problem as well as share research into biopolymer alternatives to plastic.

Food and drinks are available for purchase throughout the program, plus we’ll have door prizes and trivia! Join us in Brewbaker’s Back Room at 168 N. Loudoun St., Winchester.

This program is FREE, but it’s helpful if you register so we will have adequate seating and food servers.
