Hear from W&M Athletics Director Samantha K. Huge and learn what it’s like to curb an entire athletic season while also weighing options for practice and competition next academic year. Huge and her staff continue to make decisions based on quickly unfolding knowledge, many more unknowns and in consideration of the impact they will have on our student-athletes and coaches, physically and psychologically. Of course, the decisions being made by other institutions and the NCAA also weigh heavily on the upcoming year. And all of this is happening on the heels of launching a bold achievement plan to enhance W&M Athletics!

Fortunately, we have a bold woman leader at the helm. Attendees will get the inside scoop on decisions under consideration and have the opportunity to encourage AD Huge and her team! We know this topic may be of interest to others in your circles, so please feel free to invite those in your home to pull up a chair, share your snacks and join you for Samantha's talk.

After the Q&A with Samantha, stay with us for breakout sessions with fellow Society of 1918 members. Bring some wine and cheese to enjoy while you chat!

William & Mary Director of Athletics Samantha K. Huge begins her fourth year leading the Tribe in 2020-2021, leading the effort to build the William & Mary Athletics Department into a nationally recognized brand. A member of the President's executive leadership team, Huge oversees a department of more than 500 student-athletes and 120 Athletics staff members.

Huge's leadership impact extends beyond the Williamsburg campus, serving on the NCAA's Division I Council and the Division I Football Oversight Committee, as well as serving on the Division I Men's Basketball Competition Committee.

Appointed as W&M Athletics Director on May 1, 2017, Huge arrived on campus with 17 years of Division I collegiate athletics administration experience. Prior to joining the Tribe, Huge served as the senior associate director of athletics at Texas A&M University. In addition to supervising key operational areas, Huge managed the department's partnership with Adidas and served as the primary liaison to the major gifts staff of the university's fundraising arm for athletics.

Huge led the department's equity and inclusion policy development and implementation initiatives, served as a member of the Texas A&M Diversity Leadership Group and chaired the athletic department's Committee on Equity and Inclusion and its Policy Committee. In 2016, she received the University's Award for Women's Progress for her demonstrated advocacy for, and empowerment of, women in the department and on campus.

Prior to joining Texas A&M, Huge served as deputy director of athletics and recreation services at the University of Delaware and as special assistant to the President from 2009 to 2014. Huge has also worked in various roles in the athletic departments at Georgetown University, Wake Forest University, Michigan State University and the University of Illinois, as well as with the Office of the Southern Conference.

She holds a law degree from Campbell University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Gordon College, where she was a member of the varsity women's basketball team.
