Writing Resources Center consultants

Would you like to be a Writing Resources Center consultant? Apply between October 17 and November 20.

Consultants are trained peer tutors who work with students in 50-minute consultations on writing and oral communication skills. Most consultants work 4-6 hours a week (beginning at minimum wage) and are expected to attend staff meetings on Mondays from 12-1 every other week.

The application process begins each fall after the Fall Break. Students may submit an application independently or be recommended by a professor. Completed applications are due before Thanksgiving Break. The application includes a brief essay (no more than 2 pages double-spaced), a sample of academic writing, a draft of the applicant?s spring schedule, and a faculty recommendation form (see below). This information should be turned in to the WRC, Swem Library, First Floor.

Selected applicants will be interviewed, usually during the first week of exams. Those accepted into the training class will be given permission to enroll in WRIT 399, a two-credit class offered each spring on Mondays and Wednesdays from 12-1.
