January 23, 2018 - January 31, 2018
Location
Center for Injury Research and Prevention (CIRP) at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Research Institute; Philadelphia, PA

The National Science Foundation (NSF) supports summer research experiences for undergraduates (REUs) in colleges, universities, and other organizations across the country.  Each institution sets its own application procedures and eligibility standards for its REU program.  Students apply directly to the appropriate institution.

The Center for Injury Research and Prevention (CIRP) at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Research Institute hosts an REU site focused on injury science research.  In this 10-week paid summer research internship opportunity, underrepresented students will receive "mentorship and hands-on research experience in the fields of engineering, behavioral science, education, population science and statistics. Students will apply this scientific foundation to assist in developing evidence-based prevention products, programs, policies, and interventions."  Students will participate in the following activities:

    *  conduct research to build the scientific foundation for injury interventions
    *  translate interventions into practical solutions
    *  evaluate the success of these solutions

The application deadline is January 31, 2018.  For more information about this REU site and to apply, please see the Center for Injury Research and Prevention's website.
