[PAST EVENT] REU Application:  Summer Research Experience on Current Mental Health Issues in Ukraine

The National Science Foundation (NSF) supports summer research experiences for undergraduates (REUs) in colleges, universities, and other organizations across the country.  Each institution sets its own application procedures and eligibility standards for its REU program.  Students apply directly to the appropriate institution.

Dordt College hosts an REU site focused on current mental health issues in the Ukraine.  Students will travel to the Ukraine for two weeks in May and will spend eight weeks in June/July at the Dordt campus in Sioux City, Iowa.  Students will use datasets, including the World Health Organization?s World Mental Health Composite International Diagnostic Interview (WHO WMH-CIDI), to conduct various research studies.  Examples include the following:

?    Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in Ukraine
?    Risk Factors for Distress
?    Correlates of Subjective Health in Ukraine
?    Co-morbidity of Smoking and Alcohol
