Join members of the Tribe Community in Florida for breakfast, networking and a conversation with guest speakers Colin Thakkar J.D. ’03 and Emily Friend O’Leary J.D. '09. They will discuss professional relationships and client development.

Guest Speakers:

Colin Thakkar J.D. ’03

Knowledge Management (“KM”) Attorney for Jackson Lewis P.C.’s Non-Competes and Protection Against Unfair Competition Practice Group, and is based in the Jacksonville, Florida, office.

Since 2005, Mr. Thakkar has represented and counseled employers nationwide with regard to federal, state, and local employment laws. In addition to representing companies in non-compete, non-solicitation, and other unfair competition lawsuits, he has defended employers against claims alleging discrimination, unpaid wages, ERISA violations, and other employment-related matters. Mr. Thakkar also has significant experience representing and advising employers regarding traditional labor law issues, including labor arbitrations, unfair labor practice charges, and the interpretation of collective bargaining agreements.


Emily Friend O'Leary J.D. '09

Emily Friend O'Leary is a senior counsel and litigation attorney with Foley & Lardner LLP. Her practice concentrates on varied types of business and commercial litigation, representing businesses in government bid protests and other administrative proceedings; lenders in complex commercial foreclosure, loan workouts and Chapter 11 bankruptcy; owners, developers general contractors, subcontractors, and professionals in construction litigation; public companies in securities litigation, and private and public companies in other business related litigation and employment matters. In this capacity, Ms. O’Leary serves a broad range of clients, including financial institutions, public companies, privately held businesses, professionals, developers, and contractors, among others.

Ms. O’Leary represents clients at both the trial and appellate level. She has extensive experience in motion practice, has tried numerous cases, and has experience facilitating the efficient review of large volumes of electronic data in both investigations and civil suits.

She is a member of the firm’s Business Litigation & Dispute Resolution and Securities Enforcement & Litigation Practices.
