Please join the William & Mary Asian-Pacific Islander-Middle Eastern (APIM) Alumni Advisory Board as we see the award-winning “psychedelic theatrical extravaganza "Cambodian Rock Band," live at the Arena Stage of the Mead Center for American Theater in Washington, D.C.
"Cambodian Rock Band" shines a light on Cambodia’s vibrant ’70s rock scene and how an entire generation of musicians was purged by the Khmer Rouge. It follows a father-daughter duo as they journey to Phnom Penh, she to prosecute a notorious Cambodian war criminal, he 30 years after escaping then-Communist rule, as they bring long-buried family secrets back to life.
Playwright Lauren Yee has earned awards and accolades for "Cambodian Rock Band," including the 2019 Harold and Mimi Steinberg/American Theatre Critics Association New Play Award, the 2019 Whiting Award for emerging writers and the 2018 Horton Foote Prize for Outstanding New American Play. She was one of 10 finalists for the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize for female playwrights.
Your registration includes one drink and is underwritten by the William & Mary APIM Alumni Board. William & Mary alumni will be given priority seats and seated together.
