The Ever-Present Past: Integrating Archaeology and Conflict Transformation
Can archaeology contribute to peacebuilding in the present? Prof. Horning describes how her archaeological work in Northern Ireland provides new evidence about contested pasts and empowers contemporary communities to confront historical legacies. She will draw parallels with archaeological engagement efforts in Williamsburg, Yorktown, and Jamestown that interrogate histories of race-based discrimination and inform our understanding of contemporary racism.
