[PAST EVENT] Nobel-inspired Lecture: From Physics to Machine Learning and Back to Physics by Cristiano Fanelli
October 19, 2024
12pm - 1pm
Access & Features
- Open to the public
The 2024 Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded to two pioneering scientists who used tools from physics to create methods that shaped modern machine learning. Their breakthroughs laid the foundation for today’s powerful neural networks, driving discoveries across various fields. Notably, in 2024, other scientists were also honored with the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for predicting complex protein structures using an AI model. In this talk, Prof. Fanelli will explore the surprising ways physics and machine learning are intertwined, tracing the journey from physics to AI and back to physics, opening up new opportunities for applications and discoveries.
