In preparation for the Theatre and Dance production of Sitayana in April, the Music Library is hosting a screening of the film Sita Sings the Blues. This animated film re-tells Sita's story from the Ramayana in the context of animator and filmmaker Nina Paley's personal experience moving to India. The film uses a number of different animation techniques to represent different characters and Sita's story is completely re-told using recordings of early 20th century jazz singer Annette Henshaw.
