Shawna Alston will give a presentation in Tucker Hall Theater from 5:30-6:30 pm on Thurs. Oct. 19, 2023, about her writing project funded by the Concord Scholarship for Creative Writers. During the summer of 2023, Shawna traveled from Virginia to Tennessee to speak to family members about their experiences as African Americans in the South. She will read prose and poetry inspired by her travels, and will also show photos of the people and places she visited. The event, which includes a reception, is free and open to the public.
