The American Anthropological Association's Commission for the Ethical Treatment of Human Remains has completed a 2-year global tour of Listening Sessions with Indigenous people and anthropologists to assess the current status and future possibilities for ethical practice in research involving human skeletal remains, tissue and DNA samples, and sacred objects. The conclusions and recommendations of the Commission will be discussed along with their relationship to current practices of the Institute for Historical Biology and the African Burial Ground Project's ethical clientage model.
