Registration is open now for the 2nd Annual Q-Summit happening Saturday March 28th, 2015! The Q-Summit is a gathering of southern queer youth (ages 17-25) focusing on our place in the South and building strong, resilient communities. The event will be held from 8:30am until 6:30pm at the Tyler Hanes Commons at the University of Richmond in Richmond, VA. This is event is free and open to the public. Lunch will be provided for all who are registered. Registration is online and can be completed at http://commonground.richmond.edu/queer-ur/q-summit/register.html Registration is open until March 27th at 5pm.
The importance of this event is to establish a youth-led, youth-run space in order to provide southern queers with the opportunity to discuss a host of issues important to their own work and lived experiences. In other words, this is an event held by queer youth for queer youth.
Want to get involved? We would love for you submit a proposal! There are four options to lead/facilitate at the Q-Summit. If you have a hot topic you?d like to discuss, a workshop to conduct, a presentation to give, or an identity-related caucus to run; we want to hear about it. If your idea isn?t fully developed, we are happy to help you organize [contact Phoebe Lief at plief@richmond.edu]. Proposals must be submitted by February 22nd. Participants will be notified by March 1st. Proposals can be submitted online at http://commonground.richmond.edu/queer-ur/q-summit/submit-proposal.html
Friendly Reminder! The Q-Summit is for youth ages 17-25. Topics that are suitable for 25 year olds are not always suitable for those under 18. Please keep this in mind when submitting a proposal. We are happy to work with you to develop your idea to be age appropriate if needed.
We look forward to seeing you at the Q-Summit on March 28th!
Thanks,
UR Leadership Team
