[PAST EVENT] Camp Shakespeare
July 18, 2016 - July 29, 2016
In 2016 VSF will again offer two one-week day-camps for young actors who wish to study the acting of Shakespeare's plays. Camp directors will be joined by various members of the VSF Acting Company to instruct the campers in the playing of Shakespeare's language, stage combat, improvisation and clowing as part of the week's instruction. A peformance of the week's work is held on the final day of camp. This year the campers will perform scenes from Romeo & Juliet, Twelfth Night, Much Ado About Nothing, Othello, and various other "greatest hits".
Camps run from 9am to 4pm, Monday through Thursday and then from 9am to 5:30pm on Friday.
Classes are held at Phi Beta Kappa Hall on the campus of the College of William and Mary. Tuition for the week is $275. The Young Shakespeare Camps are day camps, no housing is provided and those students attending from out of town would need to find their own housing for the week of the camp.
This year we are changing to an online registration format. Registration opens at 9:00 AM on February 15, 2016. Only emails time stamped after 9:00 AM will be accepted. To secure your placement in the camp, please include in the subject line of your email "Camp Registration 2016" followed by which week you are registering for. In the text, include your name as well as the camper's name and age. You may register siblings with only one email. Afterwards we will follow up with more information.
Camps fill on a first come, first served basis with a total of 24 spots available for each week. For the past eleven years, the camps have sold out, so we encourage you to register early.
