On June 19, 2020, William & Mary is partnering with the York-James City-Williamsburg NAACP and the City of Williamsburg to host the area’s inaugural Juneteenth celebration, which commemorates the end of slavery in the United States.

Join The Lemon Project: A Journey of Reconciliation on April 22 at 5:00 p.m. to learn about Juneteenth and its significance today. We will explore Juneteenth’s historical context while discussing ways that people celebrate. Through these conversations, we will begin to understand why Juneteenth matters as we prepare to celebrate together on June 19, 2020. Light refreshments will be available.
