[PAST EVENT] Research to Practice Literacy Discussions - Virtual Lunch and Learns
Location
VirtualWith implementation beginning for the Virginia Literacy Act, an understanding of scientifically based reading research must be developed as well as methods for intensifying instructional delivery. Teacher knowledge is critical to understanding and meeting the needs of readers. Reading research that aligns with the science of reading and evidence-based practices will be discussed at each session. The research to practice topics cover: instructional approaches that align with the science of reading, centers that support foundational skill development, and characteristics of explicit instruction. The National Center for Improving Literacy (NCIL) will be joining us for the last three discussions about: systematic phonics instruction, oral reading fluency skill building, and explicit vocabulary instruction. An article will be emailed a week prior to the scheduled discussion to those that register.
