[PAST EVENT] Conference on "Emancipatory Knowledge: Women's and Gender Studies NOW"

April 1, 2011 - April 2, 2011
Location
University of Richmond
We encourage everyone to attend and present their women's and gender studies related work, but we are particularly interested in undergraduate student submissions. To this end, we hope you will share this opportunity with your students and encourage them to both attend and present their work. The student cost of attending this two-day conference is $25.

The conference theme is "Emancipatory Knowledge: Women's and Gender Studies NOW." Patricia Hill Collins, sociologist and author of the iconic Black Feminist Thought, is our conference keynote speaker. Also, the conference will include a feminist media plenary led by feministing.com editors Courtney Martin and Samhita Mukhopadhyay. The conference will begin at noon on Friday, April 1 and conclude at 5 pm on Saturday, April 2. Food for the entirety of the conference (lunch and dinner on April 1 and breakfast and lunch on April 2) is included in the conference fee.
