The Art & Science Exchange hosts Displaced from the Birthplace of America, a multimedia presentation of local history and music, sculptural art, and film led by The Local Black Histories Project (LBHP), a community-university research collaboration with The Village Initiative. Through the newest undertaking of this partnership, audiences will learn about the Black business hub known as the Triangle Block and the surrounding community in Williamsburg that was displaced under the auspices of “urban renewal” in the 1970s and learn the story of community activists—especially Black women—who pushed back against the city elite and claimed a place in Williamsburg. Join us for a FREE and unforgettable evening of total artwork anchored in applied learning and social responsibility. Reception to follow.
