The Khatalampay Ceremony: The APIM Association
In 2020, students from the Asian American Student Initiative, in collaboration with the Center for Student Diversity and the Asian & Pacific Islander American Studies program, established a new tradition — the Khatalampay Ceremony. This event honors the achievements of graduating seniors from the Asian, Pacific Islander and Middle Eastern communities, as well as their allies and supporters.
During Mosaic Weekend, alumni who may not have attended this ceremony as students will have the opportunity to participate with their family and friends. After processing onstage, participants will stand as a loved one or university representative places a specially designed Khatalampay stole around their shoulders.
After the ceremony, participants are invited to pose for a group photo.
Price: $25. The price covers the cost of your keepsake stole for the ceremony.
