[PAST EVENT] Alum Talk: Rare Disease Research at the NIA

October 29, 2024
7pm - 8pm
Location
Washington 219

Join Students for Rare at W&M and recent alum Cate Jones (W&M '24, she/they) as we discuss rare disease research at the National Institute on Aging!

Cate Jones (she/they) is a recent W&M grad who currently works at the National Institute on Aging (NIA) doing research on helicases that are connected to rare premature aging disorders. For this meeting, they will be talking primarily about the helicase RecQ1, the recently discovered rare disease RECON Syndrome that stems from mutant RecQ1, and what research in the field of rare diseases has been like for her so far. Cate was our club's Internal Co-President last year and we are thrilled to have them back as a speaker!
