VIMS is excited to once again join the Virginia Osprey Foundation for the 7th Annual Virginia Osprey Festival in beautiful waterfront Colonial Beach, Virginia. This FREE festival includes presentations, live bird encounters, nest tours, and more!


CBNERR-VA Discovery Lab - Plastic Oceans

At the April Discovery Lab, you'll learn about the science of plastic, what it is, how it affects our oceans and coasts, and what we can do about it.
Earth Week Documentary Screening: "2040"
Monday, April 21
7pm - 9:30pm
VIMS - Watermen's Hall, McHugh Auditorium
Kick off Earth Week by joining us for a screening of the documentary film 2040, a hope-filled look at some of the leading solutions to climate change directed by Damon Gameau. A reception with light refreshments will follow the screening.
After Hours Lecture Series: Searching for Sturgeon

Dr. Angelina Dichiera, Assistant Professor at the Batten School & VIMS, will explain how eDNA can be used to detect and monitor the presence of endangered sturgeon in Bay tributaries, and help guide recovery and conservation of these “living fossils.”
