William & Mary Bray School Lab and William & Mary Libraries, in partnership with The Lemon Project, and the Center for Student Diversity, are proud to bring acclaimed author and scholar Daniel Black to William & Mary, in the Commonwealth Auditorium at the Sadler Center on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at 5:30 PM.
Dr. Black’s books include The Coming, Perfect Peace, Don’t Cry For Me, and Black on Black: On Our Resilience and Brilliance in America, a celebrated collection of critical essays giving voice to the experiences of those who find themselves on the margins. He is the winner of the Distinguished Writer Award from the Middle-Atlantic Writer's Association and has been nominated for the Townsend Prize for Fiction, the Ernest J. Gaines Award, and the Georgia Author of the Year Award.
This event is open to all members the community, and all are welcome to join us to hear Dr. Black’s message, reminding us that while hope may be slow in coming, it always arrives, and when it does, it delivers beyond the imagination.
Called “passionate and provocative” by Booklist, Daniel Black will discuss his book, tackling topics ranging from police brutality to the AIDS crisis to the role of HBCUs to queer representation in the black church, in a keynote presentation. A Q+A, book signing and reception will follow.
