Berry Campbell Gallery - 524 W. 26th St., New York, NY 10001Access & Features
- Paid event
- Registration/RSVP
Please join us at the Berry Campbell Gallery in New York City’s Chelsea neighborhood for a reception and conversation on the art market and representation in the art world. You'll have the opportunity to connect with gallery owners Christine Berry and Martha Campbell as they share their inspiring journey navigating the global art market and championing the overlooked women of abstract expressionism. You will also have an opportunity to view their exhibition “Judith Godwin: Modern Woman”, a collection of 1950's paintings by Virginia-born abstract expressionist Judith Godwin.
After moving their operation to an expansive new gallery space in Chelsea in September 2022, Berry and Campbell have become central players in the New York art scene. The Berry Campbell Gallery has a research-oriented approach to uncovering artists overlooked due to age, race, gender or geography. Their commitment has solidified their reputation as trailblazers in introducing these artists to both esteemed museums and passionate private collectors alike.
David Brashear HON ’07, director of William & Mary’s Muscarelle Museum of Art, will join the conversation and share the progress the museum has made in expanding representation in its collection by adding works by important women artists.
Kindly RSVP by Oct. 16.
Sponsored by the Society of 1918 and the Alumnae Initiatives Endowment.
