TAG (Theoretical Archaeology Group)

Between May 9th and 11th 2025, the North American Theoretical Archaeology Group (TAG) invites you to their annual conference hosted by W&M's Department of Anthropology.

This year's TAG 2025 theme is Gather, Listen, Engage. The second oldest institution of higher education in the United States, W&M offers an ideal location to discuss, present, and complicate the entangled history of archaeology in both civic discourse and community engagement.  Concurrent conference sessions will take place in W&M's new Arts Quarter.  Conference highlights include an Opening Ceremony at Hearth: Memorial to the Enslaved, an Opening performance by Lonnie Custalow of the Mattaponi Indian Reservation, a Keynote plenary address by Drs. Michael Blakey, Krysta Ryzewski, and Paulette Steeves, Friday night reception at the Muscarelle, Saturday night gathering, and local excursions for conference participants.
