Title: From Nose to Testis: A Journey Through the Twilight Zone by Dr. Nathaniel Himmler

This seminar discusses the use of the AlphaFold-based approach to uncover the ancient origins of insect chemosensory receptors, previously thought to be insect-specific. Surprisingly, these proteins exist across the tree of life, dating back to the Last Universal Common Ancestor (~4 billion years ago). This discovery challenges assumptions about sensory evolution and opens new paths for studying the origins of nervous systems.
