[PAST EVENT] Listening Party: Tyondai Braxton
Access & Features
- Open to the public
Tyondai Braxton will host a listening party on April 2nd at 7pm in the Reeder Media center, during which he will share some music that has influenced his output and style. The New York Times described a recent Braxton performance at the Guggenheim Museum as featuring “a frenetic drive..ominous electronics..industrial crunch…a big unstoppable parade beat…The music had moved from wary collaboration to moody, alienated second thoughts to wholehearted, walloping, overwhelming unity.” Braxton, a founding member of the seminal instrumental rock band, Battles, is considered one of the most important young contemporary composers working today. He has recently received coveted composition commissions and performances from several of the most prominent orchestras and ensembles in the United States and Europe.
